CUSIC is a training pathway for achieving accreditation in point of care ultrasound for intensive care. The accreditation is endorsed by the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine and the Royal College of Radiologists. The competencies include ultrasound guided vascular access, lung ultrasound and basic abdominal ultrasound.
The trainee should complete initial training undertaken either through a CUSIC-approved course or locally organised teaching from a mentor, a pathology logbook, supervised practice in acquiring and saving images, competency within the range of practice and a final 'triggered assessment' carried out by their mentor
